Strawberry Festival Boone Hall Plantation


Who doesn't like fresh picked strawberries? Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina has an annual event the kids and adults will just love. This year the Strawberry Festival starts April 19-20th. It is the 11th year for the Festival and this year there are more rides for the kids than ever before. There is a gigantic Ferris wheel, bounce houses, and a very special strawberry ride. There is music of all kinds, clowns and a pie eating contest. And you can't leave the festival with out going to the u-pick farm so your family can pick their own fresh strawberries to take home.

Admission will be $4 for adults... children 12 and under $2. Discount ticket packages will be available for all rides, food, and strawberries, making this year’s event more affordable for the whole family.

Charleston National A Mount Pleasant Golf Community

Charleston National community is a golf community located in Mount Pleasant South Carolina. The Charleston National golf course was designed to be a private golf course built to resemble Augusta National. Designer Reese Jones designed the course along the coastal wetlands, lagoons and Intra-Coastal Waterway. The course has some of the best coastal views in the southeast. In 1989, shortly after the grand opening, Hurricane Hugo devastated the course tearing down several thousand trees. Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant SC

Boone Hall Plantation has been open to the public since 1959.

The McRae Family purchased the plantation in 1955 and it was Mrs. McRae who furnished the house with antiques and began giving tours. Today, the McRae Family still owns the property, and they continue to make improvements to the plantation so that you, the visitor, can experience what plantation life was like in the 1800s. As you tour each site on the plantation our knowledgeable staff will help you understand the day to day activities of those who lived on plantations as well the history of the people who lived here at Boone Hall.Boone Hall is also one of America's oldest working, living plantations. We have been continuously growing and producing crops for over 320 years. Once known for cotton and pecans, we are still actively producing peaches, strawberries, tomatoes and pumpkins, was well as many other fruits and vegetables for our visitors to enjoy. The U-Pick fields are open in season. Our main modern market on Hwy. 17 in

Mount Pleasant SC is now open for business.



While there is no photographing or filming of the house allowed on the tours, the house and grounds have appeared in the mini-series North and South and the movies Queen, Scarlett, and most recently, The Notebook. The Avenue of Oaks was used as inspiration in the filming of Gone with the Wind. Miss Margaret Mitchell herself has stated this is so in one of her books. No shooting was done at Boone Hall in Gone With the Wind.

The house, gardens, and other places of interest are open to the public for tours all year round.

Mt. Pleasant SC info



Mount Pleasant SC is a suburban town in the metropolitan area of Charleston, South Carolina, located in Charleston County. It is the fifth largest municipality in South Carolina. As of 2006, the town had an estimated population of 59,113 with predictions of 95,000 by 2025. It is the 3rd largest municipality in this metro behind Charleston and North Charleston.

What was once a quaint
little town where everyone knew each other has grown to be a thriving community within the last 15 years.


Once accessible only via daily ferries from the peninsula, this coastal city with its protected harbor, natural beauty and perfect climate is one of the best places to live in the nation. Mt. Pleasant has maintained its "small town" feeling, despite tremendous growth in recent years.

Now the 6th largest city in the State, this town was recently named one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. Couple that with one of the best school systems in the county and it’s easy to see why growing families, baby boomers and retirees find Mt. Pleasant SC to be a special place to call home.

Mt. Pleasant SC is a community rich with history and with culture. The historic district called the Old Village boasts grand homes that rival those found in downtown Charleston. Patriots Point Maritime and Naval Museum, home of the USS Yorktown, provides for a day full of seafaring history. There were 19,025 households out of which 33.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 24.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.99.

In the town the population was spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 35.3% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 92.0 males. For every 100 adult females, there were 88.3 adult males.

The median income for a household in the town was $61,054, and the median income for a family was $71,165. Males had a median income of $50,673 versus $31,640 for females. The per capita income for the town was $30,823. About 3.2% of families and 5.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.3% of those under age 18 and 6.6% of those age 65 or over.
