When you decide to retire you want to make your lifestyle a little easier so you can enjoy your days, less stress, less responsibility. One way to get started with your new lifestyle is to downsize your living space. There are two excellent types of properties that can make retirement living maintenance free. The Mount Pleasant SC Real Estate market has several Townhome and Condominium communities available. There are some differences between Townhomes and Condos that the average buyer does not know about.
What is a Condo? A condominium is a single-level or multi-level home, with attached homes above or below it within a larger structure. Condo owners do not own the actual structure or the land on which it is situated. Ownership of the condo is the interior space and finished inward walls. Most Condos have an HOA. In Mount Pleasant there are many different Condo Communities including Luxury Condos, Golf Course Condos and Waterfront Condos.
What is a Townhome? A Townhome is built beside or between another Townhome. It may be one tow or more stories. Unlike a Condo, a Townhomes owner owns the building structure and the land directly beneath it. Townhome communities also have HOAs. Mount Pleasant Townhomes on MLS.
What is an HOA? Home Owners Associations (HOA) typically maintain the common area offering exterior maintenance -free living. HOA dues are usually required and will vary. Wind, Hail and flood insurance are often-but not always included in your HOA fee. Property Insurance is usually not included. When purchasing a Condo or Townhome it is important to ask what is included in your HOA fee.
